It is literally a day and night difference with the older versions. The original recordings were the first the band made in their first own studio and as such there were always some technical problems with it (some static clicks and pops on the master recording for instance) A few years ago The Enid's Max Read spent considerable time, using modern tech, was able to fix those things and also create much better sounding master. I was able to get the Japanese SHM edition of that album which has the same mastering as that one. Obviously I'm biased as like I said The Enid are my favourite band, but, if you like beautiful music, brilliantly played with scary dynamic range, give any, or better still all of these a try. These are not to be confused with the vastly inferior sounding Inner Sanctum needle drops. These were long ago deleted and been non-available in there original form. I'm also delighted to say that both the original (EMI) In The Region Of The Summer Stars and Aerie Faerie Nonsense are available from The Enid's official website both as CD and the same wider dynamic range 24/96 download. I'm delighted that the downloads have, as Ibis reports, a wider dynamic range.įor older fans of The Enid who have not heard Invicta or Journeys End, they are well worth a listen, in fact Invicta with the astonishing vocal talents of Joe Payne is my most listened Enid album of late. The CD sounds fantastic and is still very dynamic. In fact it was me who suggested to Max that they made high res downloads available. The Enid are my favourite band and I have both the CD and flac download.
